ManageEngine SharePoint Manager Plus is a capable, broad tool — dozens of management, migration, and audit reports in one console. If you're here, you probably need one specific thing from that catalogue: a trustworthy answer to "what is this tenant sharing externally?" That's the comparison worth making.
Two different philosophies
SharePoint Manager Plus is an everything tool: management, reporting, auditing, and migration across SharePoint on-premises and Online. Its strength is breadth; the cost of breadth is a dense console and a report catalogue you have to learn before it pays off.
TRACER365 is a one-question tool: who can access what, externally, across SharePoint and OneDrive — answered completely, de-duplicated, and kept current. There is no report catalogue to learn because the product ships the answer, not a hundred ways to assemble it.
Side by side
| SharePoint Manager Plus | TRACER365 | |
|---|---|---|
| Scope | Broad suite: management, auditing, migration, reporting | External sharing & permissions audit, done deeply |
| Findings model | Report catalogue — you assemble the picture | Nine severity-ranked finding types, cascade de-duplicated (~91% of raw findings collapsed as duplicates in our testing) |
| Scan visibility | Varies by report | Real-time scan status, plus an honest list of anything that couldn't be scanned |
| Pricing | Quote/edition-based; list pricing typically around $1,000/yr | $490/yr flat, per installation, published openly |
| Deployment | Self-hosted server product | Local Windows app, read-only scopes, data never leaves your environment |
| Audience | IT administrators | IT + business reviewers (viewer role, scheduled email reports) |
| Trial | 30 days | 30 days, no registration; drops to read-only view after expiry |
When ManageEngine is the right call
Honestly: if you need consolidated management and migration tooling across on-premises SharePoint farms and SharePoint Online, a suite is the right shape, and SharePoint Manager Plus is a reasonable one. TRACER365 doesn't manage, migrate, or remediate anything — it is deliberately read-only. The same focused-versus-broad logic runs through our take on AdminDroid; and if your real need is migration rather than audit, ShareGate is a different category again.
When the focused tool wins
- The question is exposure, not administration. You need the external sharing picture — complete, ranked, reviewable — not another console.
- You want the noise gone. Inherited duplicates collapse under their cause; see the inherited guest access explainer for why that matters more than any report count.
- You want to always know what the scan is doing. Live progress, honest coverage, freshness on the face of the data.
- Budget clarity. One price on a public page beats a quote cycle when all you need is the audit.
